Curcumin may protect against muscle damage & soreness after exercise

A study at Mississippi State University on active healthy men has shown that curcumin may reduce muscle damage and perceived muscle soreness without negatively impacting a natural inflammatory response following exercise.  The researchers studied the effect of curcumin supplementation on exercise-induced oxidative stress, inflammation, muscle damage, and muscle soreness and it was found that curcumin may protect against muscle damage & soreness after exercise. Supplementation with curcumin may reduce muscle damage and soreness without impacting the ‘natural inflammatory response’, says the study from Mississippi State University.

“These data suggest curcumin supplementation may result in decreased muscle damage and muscle soreness in active healthy men,” wrote the researchers in the Journal of Dietary Supplements. Sep 3, 2019.
